Yerba Maté Indio is produced by a small family business led by Hugo Friedemberg, who, together with his family, decided to reach out to consumers with their own product, emphasizing its quality. Indio is integrated into an association of 13 dryers in the central region of Misiones, which use the traditional Barbacuá system. This is a slow and specialized dehydration process where the leaves are exposed to the heat of a wooden fire for 10-12 hours. The yerba is aged for 24 months because, between 18 and 24 months, it acquires properties that would not be possible with shorter aging.
