Yuchi Wild Shan Cha is a rare wild tea made from Camellia formosensis, a tea species native only to Taiwan. Known for generations, this wild Taiwanese tea was often referred to by Indigenous communities as the “tea of the gods.”
This unique tea grows naturally and untamed around Yuchi, in the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. The name Shan Cha translates directly as “mountain tea.” Harvested from wild tea trees that flourish organically without human cultivation, Shan Cha offers a striking combination of delicacy, strength, and aromatic depth.
The dark leaves are long and wiry, fully unfurling during preparation. Its infusion glows a deep amber and releases a sweet aroma of toasted oats. On the palate, expect nuanced notes of honey, stewed fruits, and ripe peach.
