UNIMATE S.A. is established in 2002, directing the company’s efforts to planting, exploitation, industrialization, elaboration and commercialization of Paraguyan Yerba Mate in a variety of presentations. The company preserves over 100 hectares of own wild virgin forests of yerba mate fields, which are part of the buffer zone of the reserva and 6,000m2 of deposition of San Rafael del Alto Parana Atlantic Forest. UNIMATE is in the city of Yuty, Caazapa department. Here, more than 800 Paraguayan families of small producers and selected yerba mate leaves suppliers work every day. The facilities are equipped with advanced technology and skilled labor.
In UNIMATE we seek ecological balance and the preservations of our future generations, a future we are building together today. The stems are cut manuály, with prunning scissors, and in some cases by hand in order to break branches and eliminate the thicker ones. Sections with leaves are „emponchadas“ in canvas and placed on cargo vehicles. Then they are sent to the drying, sapecado and milling areas. Once ready, the product is fully prepared for milling. After milling, sorting and mixing, proceeding to pack the final product, this way it can be preserved the organoleptic characteristics of yerba mate.
