Silná paraguayská yerba z pečlivě vybraných, nejaromatičtějších stonků a listů maté. Velmi silně povzbuzující a stimulující. Boldo (Peumus boldus) se tradičně používá při problémech s vylučováním žluči do dvanáctníku a jako uklidňující, diuretikum a antibakteriální prostředek působící na žlučové a močové cesty. Je indikováno jako lék na žlučové kameny, bolestivé žlučníky nebo játra, zánět močového měchýře, revmatismus a zejména na bolestivé zánětlivé žlučové kameny. Esenciální olej obsahuje ascaridol, který působí proti parazitům. List se také tradičně používal při kapavce a onemocněních jater. Vysoké dávky mohou způsobit podráždění a poškození ledvin, zejména v případech, kdy je tkáň ledvin již zatížena jinými nemocemi. List se nedoporučuje používat během těhotenství a kojení.
