History of Baldo began in 1920, in a small artisanal yerba mate production facility founded by brothers João, Antônio, and Luiz Baldo, the sons of Italian immigrants living in Vespasiano Corrêa, a small town in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Over time, production expanded, and the so-called “rested yerba mate” became a success in the market.

THE 1990s marked the company's expansion in the yerba mate business.  In 1994, operations began at the São Mateus do Sul Branch, in Paraná.

In 1995, the company launched its yerba mate development program (seedling production) in response to growing demand for raw materials.

In 2001, the company built the forestry nursery in Sao Mateus do Sulexpanding its development and support activities and initiating research into the clonal production of seedlings.

In 2002, the company began the cultivation and drying of aromatic, medicinal, and culinary herbs, initially in São Mateus do Sul and later centralized at its Prudentópolis facility.

The company opened its third yerba mate processing facility in Prudentópolis, Paraná, with the aim of increasing the volume, diversity, and quality of its products.

In 2017, the company built a new facility for its mate tea operations in São Mateus do Sul, Paraná.

In response to growing demand for more natural and healthier beverages, the company developed a line of yerba mate-based teas, available to be enjoyed hot or iced, either plain or flavored.

In 2018, its Mate Tea operations began with the launch of Roasted Mate Tea (110 g) and a line of Flavorings for Food Service.
