Zunächst hat es einen leicht fruchtigen, säuerlichen Geschmack. Ab der dritten oder vierten Infusion wird eine sanfte süße Note spürbar, und das Aroma verwandelt sich in einen klassischen brasilianischen Duft. Bei weiteren Infusionen treten im Hintergrund minzige Noten auf. Das Getränk hat einen außergewöhnlich sanften Geschmack und recht starke anregende Eigenschaften. Seine intensive grüne Farbe ist auf die schnelle Verarbeitung unmittelbar nach der Ernte zurückzuführen, mit sehr schneller Trocknung ohne lange Lagerung. Es ist vakuumverpackt, und die Blätter sind grob gemahlen, um den Geschmack langfristig zu bewahren. Die Marke Yacuy wurde 1948 gegründet und ist besonders in ihrem Heimatland Brasilien und im benachbarten Uruguay beliebt.
