Atigua

Atiguá brings together two Guaraní words: ati, meaning gathering; and gua, meaning that which is born or emerges from that gathering. The name was chosen to capture that everyday moment when mate does something simple yet deeply valuable: it brings people closer together.
Atiguá was born within Establecimiento Angirú, a family-owned project with more than 30 years of experience producing organic yerba mate in Misiones. A few years ago, the story gained new momentum through the dedication of two lifelong friends, united by the belief that yerba mate can also embody excellence, identity, and added value.
Organic farming is not a characteristic added at the end of the process. It is a way of producing that respects the natural cycles of the land and avoids the use of pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilisers.
In July 2025, Atiguá was recognised as the Best Yerba Mate with Stems at the Experiencias del Sabor competition, held as part of Caminos y Sabores at La Rural de Palermo. It was the only organic yerba mate to receive this distinction. The evaluation was conducted by the Sensory Analysis Laboratory of FAUBA, whose jury highlighted Atiguá’s smoothness, balance, visual harmony, and the persistence of its flavour over time.
